Chocolate Brown

I know it’s spring here and we’re all wearing vibrant colours (except for those who can’t move away from the all black), but I decided to try something different and go for brown. Yes chocolate brown. What can I say, I love chocolate.
As you may be aware the cage tops seem to be everywhere this season. And why not, they look great. They give us that little bit of a ‘hello peek a boo’ look without going overboard. Well who doesn’t want a day of looking and feeling sexy right?
This dress is super sexy in my opinion. It’s stretch fabric hugs your curves and it can be dressed up or down depending on what accessories and shoes you like. I’ve gone for the dress up look, but next time I’ll try my converse for a casual look.
I absolutely love dresses and I always encourage others to wear them. They’re so feminine and no matter what your shape and size as long as you have confidence, you will look great.
This dress in particular is from Rebdolls. They have a huge assortment of dresses but girls, this one is a must!

Casual, Comfortable and Chic

We all need that perfect summer dress for a casual day. Whether you’re lunching, or shopping or heading the beach, this dress is super comfortable.

I absolutely love the tie up bit in the front and I like how the dress curves at the bottom. The stripes are solid and I like the a-line look which I don’t normally go for.

I wore this dress to brunch by the beach and it was perfect. Mind you it was extremely windy and the sand was burning our eyes, but I just had to get a picture in to show you guys. The dress isn’t too tight so it allowed me room to move and was great when going for a walk afterwards. Luckily the fabric falls well and the dress didn’t raise to reveal my underwear to the world! I’m sure a lot of you would love this relaxed look and this would definitely be a go to dress.

I discovered this dress on the Iconic website and it’s from an Australian brand called 17 Sundays. I was pleasantly surprised that I could buy a cute dress like this in Australia.

Add a sun hat and some nice sandals and it’s a perfect day dress!

Halloween

Who doesn’t love a day where you can dress up as a character or put make up on so you look like a zombie? Yes I’m talking about Halloween. The time of year where you choose to wear the ‘this is my opportunity to wear as little clothes as possible’ outfit or ‘I am going to have the best make up and outfit where nobody will recognize me’. Hey I’m only going by what I see in social media. I do love the make up looks but apart from doing regular make-up, I have no talent there.

I decided to go with classy/sexy looks this year.  Here in Australia we do try to get into the spirit of Halloween. After all, we did adopt this holiday from America so we’re trying to decorate our houses, wear costumes and send kids trick or treating. Aussies though, do know how to party so the costumes I’ve seen this past weekend have been fantastic.

I am really glad that I could go online and find myself a cute dress to get into the Halloween spirit. Add a few props from the party/dollar store and there you go, a Halloween costume that’s super cute!
I hope everybody had a great Halloween and I look forward to seeing all of your costume pics. Don’t let your size dictate what you wear or who you get dressed as. Be creative and have lots of fun!

Olive this shade of green

I just love these simple fitted dresses. If I could have a dress like this in every colour I think that’s all I’d need in my closet! Actually I do have quite a few of this style dresses in my closet from different shops and I do love them all.

It’s so easy to throw on a dress like this and shoes and off you go to any event. Whether it’s to go shopping, drinking, concerts or even to work, this dress works with everything.

The straightforward design allows you to accessorise with any type of jewellery or jacket or belt. This particular dress I have chosen to add a studded belt to dress it up.

The olive colour is fantastic as it falls on a neutral tone. Not the classic black, but not too bright in colour either. It’s becoming one of my favourite colours to wear as it suits any complexion.

To those plus girls who are afraid of wearing fitted dresses. Don’t be. They make them in our size so why not be confident and show off your curves. You are in charge of your own happiness and don’t let small minded people stop you from being the fashionista that you want to be!

Dandelions in the Wind

This dress definitely says welcome to spring. I can imagine myself walking through a field of dandelions, making wishes as the wind blows my hair and the sun shines ever so brightly. I see a handsome guy coming toward me with a smile on his face. I walk towards him and it’s like we’ve known each other forever. We embrace and he spins me around like we’re dancing…. Ummm Stanzie getting a little carried away with the story telling, let’s get back to reality.

This dress. I love the patterns on it. It’s fun and happy. And perfect for a day out. The fabric is stretchy which is great and I love this length. I’ve gone with neutral tones for shoes and handbag so that the dress can stand out. I’m thinking a denim jacket would look great on this too however I don’t have one to show you guys. (note to self denim jacket next purchase)

This dress is from Rebdolls, which lately has been my favourite online place to go to for dresses. They have so many to choose from that you will end up filling up your shopping cart and checking out with so many dresses that when they arrive you will be so glad you didn’t go with just one!

When Pleather Meets Denim

With winter now ending here in Australia I’m wearing some of my favourite key pieces before I pack them away until next year.

This pleather skirt I absolutely love. It’s so soft and has the illusion of a leather skirt. Now back in the day I would have thought there’s no way I could wear such a skirt. I always thought leather was something only thinner girls could wear. But I was wrong. Leather (or pleather to be precise) can be worn by anybody.

The length of this skirt is perfect for that classy look and you can pair the pleather skirt with any top. From super casual with flats or loafers to dressy with heels and a sparkly top. I have gone with the in between and worn a denim short.

Now my big busted counterparts would totally understand me when I say how hard it is to find a shirt that fits and buttons up without looking big everywhere else. This is the reason why I tend to avoid shirts as they usually don’t give you room to move. Nobody wants to be popping out in the wrong places at the wrong time!

I do like this denim shirt that I’ve had for a couple of years now and I think it pairs well with the pleather skirt. So give it a go if you have this combination in your closet. The colours together look good and the different fabrics work well together.

Once again I have dug around in my wardrobe and found myself a new outfit. Have you seen what’s lurking in your closet that you could take out and give a revamp to? Sometimes you don’t need to throw things out. Okay you might not want to be a hoarder so perhaps donate a few items, but otherwise start dressing up what you have!

Different Shades of grey

It’s been a rainy few days here to welcome in the lovely spring weather. Spring, it sounds so fresh and flowery with colour and sun and happiness. To contrast I’ve decided to go with a grey outfit. Let’s say goodbye to winter and wish it well for next year…

My spring wardrobe will be coming soon so for now I wanted to show you how I matched a grey skirt and top so that it looks like a dress. Yep they’re slightly a different shade of grey, but I cut it up with the belt in the middle so that it looks like a dress.

I love these tops that have lace sleeves. They do tend to be a little tight in my upper arm area as lace doesn’t have as much stretch as jersey fabric does. But nevertheless if I can get it on, I’m wearing it!

With super tight clothing like this my body shapers are a must. But you do what makes you comfortable. I’ve been wearing shapewear since I was 15 due to what I call ‘rubbages’ and others call chaffing. Therefore to me, they are second nature and part of my daily wardrobe. Those of you that have the same problem will totally understand me and the struggles we have and the lengths we go to. But I’ll save that for another time…

Remember, keep mixing and matching the clothes you have and you never know what you’ll come up with.

I love Planes

Its been a busy couple of weeks in my ‘day job’ so I haven’t had a chance to take any pics or write about my trip to Melbourne.

I do however know that I don’t like travelling on my own because it’s boring. Yes perhaps “me time” can be overrated. Well maybe not overrated as such, but I think it’s great in small doses rather than, let’s say over a complete weekend or longer. But hey this is just my opinion. When you’re on your own you have to figure out how you’re going to take photos of yourself whilst being a tourist. I’m not really a fan of handing over my phone to a stranger for a snap. Also no way am I taking a selfie stick with me!

I considered bringing my tripod but it wouldn’t fit into my handbag. I had a hard enough time trying to get through security with my hairspray can that I didn’t need any further questions from them. What’s the deal with those security guys anyway? Why do they feel the need to open your bag and re-arrange the things that you managed to squeeze in there and then just throw it back at you and say ‘Good luck getting that back in there again?’ and yes, you just never can repack it the same way it originally was especially whilst clutching your boots, your laptop and handbag.

Anyways I do love flying but I hate aeroplane seats. They’re just never big enough or comfortable enough and people seem to ignore simple aeroplane etiquette. Now yes, I’m not a small person and I’m sure the lucky person who gets to sit next to me is just jumping with joy at the fact that we’ll be rubbing shoulders. But really, it’s not necessary to keep crunching that hand rest down to ensure that our space is divided. It’s not going all the way down my friend because yes that’s my ass that’s in the way.

Stripes on Stripes

I remember reading in a magazine when I was younger that wearing stripes is not flattering and you should avoid them. Well that’s a myth. And to prove that, I’ve gone with stripes on stripes! Oh yes to those of you haters of stripes please close your eyes as I’ve dared and worn a striped top with a striped skirt. Oh no, call the fashion police I’ve broken a rule! Well rules are there to be broken right. Well some rules perhaps.

I actually don’t own anything that has vertical stripes so I can’t dispel the myth that vertical stripes make you look taller. Although I gladly welcome anything that makes me look taller without having to wear heels. But horizontal stripes, well they can be flattering so don’t avoid them.

With this outfit I’ve gone with the good old belt bringing the two pieces together. As i’ve said before belts really can make your outfit pop. So don those stripes, grab that belt and let’s go!

Rock it Out

What do you do when you haven’t shaved your legs? You wear pants! Only kidding, well partially kidding. You can wear pants anytime you want and when better than a cold winter’s day.

These wet look jeans I picked up casually on a sale rack whilst I was doing some impulse buying when I had a few hours to kill waiting for a plane. But what a good purchase they were! I like the edgy rocker look they bring and I feel like I need to go to a rock concert or get on a motor bike with some hunky man wearing a leather jacket. Okay Stanzie get your head out of the clouds.

I know some of you are hesitant about wearing anything that could possibly resemble a leather look let alone a sleek wet look. Sure they may show some lumps and bumps but who cares. Nobody is perfect and there are no rules to fashion. Okay maybe some rules, or suggestions per say but ultimately, if you see something you like and you can find it in your size, then try it on and if you like it, buy it! Wear the jeans with a nice jacket or blouse or even one of those printed t-shirts and embrace your inner rock chick. Your age doesn’t matter, just enjoy!
