Miss Guided

The other day my sister recommended that we go for a drive to Kangaroo Valley to see the scenery and have a homemade pie. As long as Chiptron was coming, I was in. This was the perfect opportunity to wear this new skirt that I had bought and take some pics with a nice Autumn background. Oh the life of a blogger, always looking for that opportunity to take a great pic!

This skirt I bought from a website that I’ve noticed a few times but haven’t really bought anything as I just wasn’t sure of the quality. This is where I always buy something that’s on sale first to test the waters before I agree to pay full price! I did buy a few items and found they were all decent quality so watch this blog for further posts.

Now back to this skirt. What caught my attention was the tie up in the front. I thought it would look cute with a bodysuit and also camouflage the VBL a little. I’m all for body positivity and being happy in your own skin. I applaud the women that just don’t care about what others think ever and wear absolutely what they want. We all have our own opinion of what is sexy or classy and what we think looks best. I however, do envision things to look a certain way on me so I work around that.

The material of this skirt is a little thin and does show lumps and bumps. So if you’re weary of that perhaps go for the black one. I also got the skirt in black because I just loved the look of it and the black is actually a different fabric altogether. Its called scuba style so a little thicker. Not as slinky as the green one. The length for me is ideal and they call it the midi length.

This skirt can be dressed up for work or even dressed down with a tee and sneakers for a casual look. I may try this next time and put in my Instagram to show you guys.

I am wearing shapewear underneath for a smoother finish (for those of you interested).

I’m looking forward to wearing the black skirt also which as you all know can be paired with any colour combination.

P.S We didn’t see any kangaroos on our trip and the pie was great!

Autumn Sun

Autumn is here and lately we’ve had some great weather. Winter however is right on its tail waiting to pounce. I don’t mind the cold so much as it is a new wardrobe and you can wear jackets to complete your outfit. The one thing I do miss is daylight savings and having longer days. Now that it gets dark so early it’s 7:30pm and I’m thinking ‘Is it bed time yet?’ I’m generally not much of a social butterfly but winter makes me want to sit on my couch with a blanket, watch Netflix or some reality show and cuddle with my dog.

This weekend my nephew said he would puppysit for me so I could check out what’s out at the shops. I feel bad leaving the puppy alone on weekends. I have to leave him for hours daily when I go to work so I try to make a huge effort to spend time with him on weekends. If only we could bring pets to work. They would make the work day so much more enjoyable!

But that’s a whole other topic. Today we’ll focus on this bargain outfit which I know will be my winter go to comfort outfit.

This outfit in total cost me $75! Now that is what I call a bargain!

Let’s start with the vest. Target had a whole bunch of these out on their racks. They are so soft and warm with the tie waist and a good length to keep your back warm. This vest- only $15! My lunch usually costs more than this! This vest wasn’t in the plus section however they are a bigger make so the size fits fine. They also come in a beige colour so go check them out.

The white long sleeve top also from Target. This was a measly $6. Bargain right! These tops are a staple in everybody’s wardrobe as they are so simple and easy to wear in the cold weather.

My pants are a leggings style thick material pant which I love. They were on sale at Autograph Fashion for $24. I should have gotten a second pair as these will definitely be a staple in my wardrobe!

My ankle boots I got from Kmart for $30! These boots are really cute and go perfectly well with leggings and jeans. The heel has a slight platform and rubber sole so they are super comfy.

I just wanted to show that you can get a complete outfit for the price of a pair of shoes. Some stores like Target or Kmart for example may surprise you!

Happy shopping all!

Rockin’ Rolling

How rock n roll is this body suit? When I saw it on the website I immediately had all these images in my head as to what I was going to wear it with and how rocker I was going to look. Okay so maybe I can’t completely pull off the rocker look but a girl can try!

This body suit is one I will be wearing on repeat. The keyhole in the front allows me to breathe and gives the tee some extra edge. The sides, I’m not sure if you can see, but they have ties all the way down both sides of the body suit. The pic on front reminds me of the good ole USA.

I must say, this body suit is actually long enough to clasp at the bottom! Most of them I find very hard to clasp so I just wear them gathered around my waist so you don’t see the line of the body suit. But this one is actually really good. I know people avoid body suits due to having to unbuckle everything when going to the ladies room. I totally agree it’s usually a nightmare for me, hence why I don’t even try clasping it. I did struggle a little with this one but managed to clasp it back on without having to spend too much time. Perseverance prevailed!

Watch my Instagram for more outfit ideas with this rockin’ body suit as the time goes by.

N.B This post is not sponsored by anybody. In fact none of my posts are sponsored. They are just my reviews and my opinions on clothes that I like. Let me know if there’s anything you want me to review or try out and I’ll try and accommodate!

Autograph Please

The other day I did a sprint shop as I didn’t want to leave my puppy home alone for too long. I had many things to buy (easter related) and only gave myself one store to go into to purchase something for me.

I walked past Autograph and it had 40% off store wide. Now there was a sale I couldn’t resist. I bought a couple of items including boots which I will show you all another time. Today I wanted to talk about the great denim skirt. You know I love denim, especially skirts and dresses.

This dark denim skirt looked pretty cute on the hanger as I liked the buttons that go all the way down. However they are misleading and don’t actually open all the way down. I do prefer this as there are no peek a boo gaps down near my thigh area! The length is perfect and the pencil style suits me just great. It’s stretchy fabric which I love and very flattering.

I don’t normally shop at Autograph as I feel like its targeted at older women and women who want to hide their curves.  But many times I have found some great items so it’s worth a look, especially during a sale!

I put together two looks. One summer pastel with the skirt and one sporty look with the skirt. (The puppy follows me around everywhere so is constantly photo bombing!)

Wedding Season

February, the time of year in Australia for weddings. Perhaps that’s because it’s the end of summer and the weather is still hot and for those romantics, Valentines Day also falls in February making it the love month.

I love going to weddings. I must say it’s not because of the union itself, I don’t consider myself to be a romantic  as such. For me it’s all about the different types of fashion and style people have put together. It’s also my time to put on some hair extensions, put on some false lashes and feel glamorous!

I don’t know about you guys, but I never know what to wear. I mean yes a dress of course because  I love dresses, but it’s hard to find the right one. I feel like a long dress can be too dressy and sometimes short dresses are too casual!  However when you are looking for one last minute and there aren’t too many options, you go with your gut.

But this dress, when I first laid my eyes on it, I knew it was the perfect dress for a wedding party. It has the illusion of lace and it looks classy and elegant. I can also wear it many times as it fits so many different occasions.

The fabric is not my usual style of stretch, but a more tailored fabric with a zipper down the back. It has detachable straps which I didn’t wear. I thought it was easier just wearing my bra as the straps as it looked the same.

The dress is a little pricey, but for a dress that you can keep for years and still wear, I would say it’s worth the money.

The Ultimate Denim Dress

When will a denim dress fail you? Never!

I first saw this dress in my Facebook feed as an ad. Usually these ads annoy me but when I saw this dress my first thought was, ‘please be from a plus size store!’ Sure enough it was from City Chic. (I am not sponsored by City Chic or being paid for this post)

I actually bought this dress online without trying it on. I ordered and crossed my fingers that the picture wasn’t misleading. Once it arrived and I tried it on I loved it. It was exactly as I has seen it on the model online and the length, oh yes the length was exactly how I wanted it.

The sweetheart top, oh so cute, and those buttons from top to bottom just look fantastic. The wrap around the middle I love, as it brings your waist in to show it off. But wait, there’s more. My most favourite bit of the dress, it has pockets! Oh I love pockets on dresses!!

You can never go wrong with a denim dress as it suits most occasions. It’s also a classic as denim is always in style. The only downfall of this dress is that the straps are detachable so they easily come off. Its great for those who are smaller busted and can wear the dress strapless. It was a little pricey as it wasn’t on sale, but I must say, totally worth the buy!

The Asymmetric Skirt

I was starting to feel that my work wardrobe was getting a little old. It needed a bit of sprucing up and I didn’t want to spend too much. I am in the process of becoming an adult and moving into my own place which means bills will need to be more important than fashion. Yes, as hard as that may be, this is what grown people do. It is not the first time I have left the comforts of the family home, but somehow I make my way back to the familiarity.

I love fashion. A lot of us do. We want to wear what’s on trend or even something unique without spending a fortune. This is where your online shopping skills come into place.

I’ve been eyeing this skirt for a while now because I like the asymmetric shape on the bottom. The skirt also comes in black, stone and wine. All of which I’m considering getting as well! But who can go wrong with navy right? The material is also ribbed and has stretch in it so it will fit your curves wonderfully. And right now it is on sale so check it out!

Although I got this skirt for work you can definitely wear it to play. It’s a great skirt for going out for a drink after work and not looking too ‘worky’. Yep, another bargain found!

We all need a go-to Skirt

I have found myself another go to skirt especially for work. I do tend to like black because I feel it matches up with anything. When I have to get up at 5 in the morning my brain doesn’t always function as well as it should. For some reason I just can’t get into the habit of planning the night before. I always think i might change my mind the next day because i’m not feeling it. So if you have a go to skirt you can put on any top and it works!

I do find myself window shopping online quite often. Well these days our internet has been playing up so it has made it difficult to impulse buy. I have on occasion visited a web page 3 times and it has’t worked and then I’ve had to give up. Yes, give up.

I also wish companies would make cheaper shipping to Australia. Seriously we would buy so much more online if the shipping wasn’t more expensive than the items!

Now back to my skirt. The ruffle on the front is super cute. It makes the skirt look fancy which I love. The elastic waistband makes the skirt easy to put on and is very comfortable. The length is perfect for that elegant finish and the shine in the fabric makes the skirt fabulous!

I got this skirt from Boohoo. Now with the sizing at Boohoo it can be a hit and miss. Usually when I buy online I tend to go for the size up just to ensure it fits. However sometimes they arrive and even the larger size doesn’t fit, yet a different item in the same size fits great. I suppose these are the joys on online shopping. I would much prefer the sizes stated were true to size as this would make our shopping lives easier. Especially if you’re paying a fortune in shipping!

It’s Worth- (ington) It

My trip to the US was a success. Okay yes it was a month ago now but I have quite a few items I haven’t worn yet. I’m in the midst of packing and throwing things out and I keep going across new purchases. Yay, it’s like Christmas everyday!

Unfortunately though I couldn’t go shopping crazy as it is winter in the US and most of the clothes were for the winter wardrobe. Whilst I did think I could hold on to it until winter here, I didn’t want to commit just yet, especially as summer has just begun.

Now JC Penney, a store we don’t have in Australia, is a must in my visits. I find that they have good quality items and there is always a sale of some sort. I also love that they have a Sephora inside because let’s face it, who doesn’t love Sephora. (Although I’ve found that lately they haven’t been giving out those little samples i love!)

My sister and I said we’d only be 10 minutes in JC Penney and just wanted to have a quick look. Well an hour later we were happily standing at the cash register with our purchases. we were even happier when our purchases were even more discounted that what we thought.

The bright colours, cute zip and peekaboo split were what caught my attention on this skirt. It’s definitely a skirt you can wear to work and out for dinner too. It’s very good quality and sits really well and best of all doesn’t break your bank!

I just checked online and this skirt is still available and on sale so if you’re interested check it out!img_3437img_3447img_3428

Worthington Envelope Skirt

Galaxy

Picture yourself walking into a party and the people stop and stare. Yes that is what the effect of this dress will do.

How funky is the pattern on this dress? It looks like a galaxy and my nephew tells me it reminds him of star trek. It also looks like some art work don’t you think? You just can’t take your eyes off of it.

I got this dress a while back but just never had anywhere to wear it to. It’s a statement dress and I wanted to make a statement the first time I wore it!

This is yet another dress in the style that I like. A simple tank style dress that is stretchy and comfortable. It is the length that I like for that classy look and perfect for a night out. However it’s the funky pattern that does everything for this dress. I enjoy wearing patterns because why not, right. Why shy away from patterns? I love seeing my plus size sisters on Instagram showing off their outfits in all different styles and colours. Fashion is for all of us.

And if like me you have nowhere to go sometimes…create somewhere to go, because a dress like this can’t sit in your closet!
