The Ivana Peplum Skirt

I have always been hesitant to wear peplum. I have a friend that wears it regularly and I would say ‘that’s not my style’ which is my language for ‘I don’t like it’. However it looks good on her so I thought why not give it a try. If it doesn’t work then I know that at least I tried and I can avoid that style in the future.

Purple is my favourite colour so naturally I was drawn to the lilac skirt that I saw on the model online. Of course there was a sale and who can resist a sale!

When it arrived, the colour and style looked exactly as it did in the picture. Those of you that shop online know the feeling of ordering something that turns out to be a different colour, different fabric and worse, a smaller size fit than expected. If it’s my first time trying a new web site I tend to go for a size larger than I usually get. I don’t know about you but I really hate the process of sending something back. This way even if it’s a little looser, I can still wear it.

Without hesitation I put the skirt on. Yes, I was in love. I was immediately thinking I needed to make plans to go out to wear this skirt to show it off! This skirt fit perfectly and I loved the stretch in the fabric. The length is great as it gives the skirt a classy feel.

I am very proud of my first purchase of a peplum skirt and look forward to future purchases!

The Sexy Drape Dress

I was invited to a wedding and I had my dress all planned out. However a couple of days before the wedding I was doing some online browsing and fell in love with this dress. I just had to have it. So there I was on the day of the wedding, waiting for the store to open so I could try it on. As soon as I did, I was in love. I had to have this dress. It fitted so perfectly. I especially loved the way it draped around my curves and provided a lovely looking silhouette. The zipper down the front made it very easy to get in and out of without ruining my hair!

The low neck line gave it that extra sexy look, everything about this dress was saying ‘look out, curves coming through’.

As it is a black dress it can be paired with any colour shoes and any jewellery. I added a sparkly belt to give it a different glammed up look, but it looks just as fabulous on its own.

I would say this dress is timeless and a great ‘go to’ dress to keep in your closet for when you have something on and don’t know what to wear.

Curvy Girl Power

I wasn’t sure how to begin my first post or what to write about. So let’s start with getting to know me.

I’ve been showing my fashion looks on Instagram and thought why not share some stories and tips behind the pics. I have been asked many times by people where I get my clothes from and have been complimented on my style. Being from Australia, I have always found it difficult to find clothing that I liked in my size. I always felt that the fashion for full figured women catered for women who wanted to hide their curves rather than embrace them. I have long dreamed of starting my own clothing line as I had so many ideas in my head. So I do dabble a little in making outfits or upcycling them to suit me and my style. It gives me great pleasure when somebody asks me where I got a certain item of clothing from and I say I made it myself!

This blog is going to be about my style, my thoughts, opinions and my everyday life. I am happy to generate conversation about topics that affect us curvy girls and girls in general. I like a bit of humour, I tend to generalise and I like to say it as I see it. In this age of political correctness you can’t please everybody so if something is not your cup of tea, please don’t be offended, we’re all human and we’ve all put our foot in it at some stage in our life.

So let’s support each other as there are way too many keyboard warriors trying to tear us down. Go Curvy Girl Power!
